Weight management services encourage and support individuals, providing the tools and guidance they need to safely reach a weight that is healthy for them and maintain it long-term.
Before starting any weight management plan, you will need to consult with a GP first. During this consultation, they can assess your health, circumstances, and goals. They can then work with you to develop a treatment plan and discuss options moving forward. These options can include things like diet plans, medication, and referrals to other health services (e.g., dietetics, exercise physiology, counselling).
Our GPs can provide initial support, including creating a Diet Management Plan or determining whether medication is appropriate. However, it is ideal for patients to also be referred to an additional health professional, such as a Dietitian, for further support.
We acknowledge that a lot of aspects contribute to weight, such as biological, physical, social, environmental, and mental health factors. Our doctors are here to learn about you and help you receive the support and health care you need to feel more confident and equipped in safely reaching and managing a weight that is healthy for you.
